It has to be asked: 3DS or NGP (or Totally Enjoyable Sony Tactile Entertainment System if you prefer)?
It will depend entirely on two things: the feature set in the final system… and which one gets an Ace Attorney game first.
I’m actually a fan of the idea of a portable “proper” (for want of a better word) console, particularly if it has some way of syncing up with the PS3 when you get home. Plus, portable Uncharted? Sign me up.
That said, I am a bit worried about the sudden excitement for the dual thumbsticks; yes, it’s good, but some of the excitement seems to be because this will let us PLAY SHOOTERS!
No. We do not need ANY MORE ways to play shooters, as someone memorably yelled on Twitter yesterday (I forget who, sorry). If the NGPSPTESTES becomes the portable shooter system, I’m out.
If, on the other hand, it becomes an awesome device that is home to creative, in-depth, console-style experiences? I’m in.
As for the 3DS, well, I’m pretty sure it’s an impressive bit of kit. But there’s not that much in the initial lineup that’s got me champing at the bit to rush out and buy one. I guess the same could be said for the NGP, but if the 3DS is anything like the DS, it may take a little while for it to hit its stride enough for me to be truly interested.
That or a new Ace Attorney game. Instant purchase.
